  • General Fluidics is looking for motivated scientists to join our growing team. General Fluidics is an in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) company that has developed a novel end-to-end, fully integrated modular IVD platform for performing a growing array of blood and urine-based tests. The Axess platform uses patented hybrid hardware architecture, fluidics, and optoelectronic technologies to go beyond test results, delivering complete diagnostic information at point-of-care with turnaround times impacting care management.

    We are seeking a highly creative and broadly skilled Data Analysis Scientist to join our fast-growing team, and to play a key scientific role in developing our next generation platform. You will play a key integration role in our new products.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Primary responsibilities will include statistical and computational analysis of high-dimensional flow cytometry data from a novel hematology analyzer using publicly available and in-house developed tools.

    • Work with other scientists and engineers to develop, verify and validate automated data analysis and reporting software for flow cytometry results from a new IVD platform for clinical hematology.

    • Develop automated analysis of high-parameter flow cytometry data and subsequent statistical testing to identify relationships between experimental and clinical data.

    • Independently design, develop and test algorithms for automated analysis of flow cytometry results and software for reporting clinical hematology results in human and veterinary medicine.

    • Author data analysis protocols, data structures, standard operating procedures, verification/validation plans and R&D reports in preparation for FDA submission.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • MS or PhD in biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, applied mathematics, machine learning, immunology, genomics or related scientific fields with 2+ years’ working experience in computational biology, bioinformatics and/or machine learning in pharma, biotech or academic settings.

    • Experience in mathematics and/or computational biology with familiarity for laboratory research methodologies generating complex data from biological blood samples.

    • Working experience with existing automated data analysis packages for flow cytometry a plus.

    • Knowledge of quantitative techniques (normalization, standardization, applied statistics) for clinical results a plus.

    • Experience with statistical data analysis and software design of automated routines for analysis of computational results (e.g., flow cytometry, imaging mass cytometry, mass spectrometry, genomics) with subsequent reporting of clinical results.

    • Ability to define and develop data analysis strategies under minimal supervision with high degree of scientific competence and organizational attention to detail.

    • Competency with clinical (human) laboratory practices (e.g., GLP, CLIA, CAP), fundamental health principles and clinical interpretation of test values preferred. Veterinary experience a plus.

    • Concise communication of scientific concepts, data analysis, clinical interpretation and reporting.

    • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

    • Desire to learn and develop new technologies in a biotech R&D start-up.

    As part of our operations, we are seeking an experienced Lab/Office Administrator to support the growth of our team in a way that builds on the innovative culture we’ve established. The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, and detail oriented with excellent organizational, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills. A team player with a get-it-done attitude is essential. General responsibilities will include facilitating an efficient office and lab environment and providing operations support for technical and business activities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Greet and assist visitors and VIPs, as needed (may include travel arrangements and overnight accommodations).
    • Respond to and direct phone calls.
    • Provide general administrative support to onsite engineers, scientists, and staff members.
    • Coordinate schedules, appointments. Book online meetings and calls.
    • Manage relationship with landlord, vendors, and service providers ensuring a safe, clean and well-functioning office.
    • Take responsibility for office upkeep/maintenance, mailing, office and kitchen supplies, equipment, bills, and running errands.
    • Coordinate with lab safety consultants and help to ensure safety protocols are followed and all safety equipment is supplied and policies up to date and maintained.
    • Notify and/or deliver letters, packages, and the like to addressee/appropriate employee.
    • Follow-up with equipment vendors for shipment deliveries.
    • Purchase office, kitchen, and lab supplies. Track inventory.
    • Interface with IT services provider to ensure adequate supply of computers and equipment to meet needs of the growing office. Troubleshoot with IT vendor to resolve any technology and/or equipment issues.
    • Coordinate and prepare for company meetings and other events. May include ordering/providing lunch from local restaurants.
    • Participate in company meetings and record meeting minutes and summaries.
    • Maintain company databases and perform regular updates
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associates degree required, BS/BA strongly preferred
    • 3-5 years of experience in a business administration role with prior experience in an administrative role (internship or college work applicable)
    • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Positive, friendly, and resourceful demeanor required
    • Working knowledge of MS Office applications required
    • Passion for technology and aptitude to learn new technologies

    PREFERRED:

    • Website maintenance experience a plus
    • Previous work in lab / scientific-centric company
    • Purchasing experience helpful
